It's Almost Ready

I'm celebrating tonight because my new Quiet Time Reading Pillow pattern is finally ready for testing. This is a perfect pattern to sew for autumn, when kids will start spending more evenings indoors and will have plenty of reading to keep up with for school.

I first sewed this pillow for a friend's son several years ago. It has been in regular use ever since and has held up well. They now have a cozy reading nook under the stairs and it is always in there ready for a good book.

When you've finished stitching up this comfy pillow, you might want to give it to a child along with a new book or two. Need ideas? Check out one of my favorite sites, Common Sense Media, for book recommendations by age.

Here is the pattern description:

Kids and their little friends will enjoy cuddling up with a good book with their own reading pillow. Comfy reading pillow sized just right for kids and their dolls or stuffies. The child size pillow has side pockets and a carry handle. View A is made with a single fabric and can be made as a child size or doll size. View B has a contrast panel and optional applique. Five applique
patterns and instructions for raw-edge are applique included.

The applique patterns include a silly monster, horse, butterfly, guitar, and a pirate octopus. Who knew octopuses could be pirates? Of course, you may choose to feature your favorite fabric without an applique. This pattern works well for many different looks.

I'm excited to start sewing up some photo shoot samples and share them with you. Stay tuned for updates.
